Broncos Release RB Jacob Hester, Claim LB Adrian Robinson Off Waivers

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. The Denver Broncos on Sunday released running back Jacob Hester.

Hester (5-11, 225 pounds) is a sixth-year player who joined the Broncos as a free agent on Nov. 26, 2012, and saw action in three regular-season games and one playoff contests for the club last year.

He came to Denver after spending his first four NFL seasons with San Diego, playing in 62 regular-season games (23 starts) and three postseason games (1 starts).

His career totals include 111 rushes for 400 yards (3.6 avg.) with three touchdowns, 55 receptions for 308 yards with three scores and 36 special-teams tackles.

Drafted by the Chargers in the third round (69th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft from Louisiana State University, Hester attended Evangel Christian High School in Shreveport, La., and was born on May 8, 1985.

The Denver Broncos on Sunday were assigned linebacker Adrian Robinson off waivers from Philadelphia, it was announced.

Robinson (6-1, 250 pounds) is a second-year player who saw action in 12 games as a rookie for the Steelers in 2012 after being signed by the club as a college free agent. He was traded to the Eagles for running back Felix Joneson Aug. 23.

He started 38-of-50 career games played at Temple University, twice earning All-Mid-American Conference accolades and being named MAC Defensive Player of the Year following his sophomore season in 2009.

A first-team all-state performer at Harrisburg (Pa.) High School, Robinson was born on Nov. 21, 1989.

The Denver Broncos signed seven players to their practice squad roster on Sunday.

Six of the seven players signed to the practice squad competed with the Broncos during the preseason. The exception is running back Edwin Baker (information below).

Baker (5-8, 200 pounds) is a second-year player who competed on San Diego’s practice squad (first 15 weeks) and active roster (final two weeks) during his rookie season in 2012 after being selected by the Chargers in the seventh round (250th overall) of the NFL Draft.
 
He played 35 career games for Michigan State University and finished with 462 rushes for 2,293 yards (5.0 avg.) with 19 touchdowns before foregoing his senior season for the NFL. During his 2010 campaign, he rushed for 1,201 yards and 13 touchdowns on 207 attempts (5.8 avg.) to earn first-team All-Big Ten Conference recognition by the league media.
 
A graduate of Oak Park High in Highland Park, Mich., Edwin Baker was born on June 1, 1991.The Denver Broncos signed seven players to their practice squad roster on Sunday, it was announced.
