Broncos Agree To Terms With Free Agent Cornerback Aqib Talib

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.The Denver Broncos on Tuesday agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent cornerback Aqib Talib on a six-year contract, Executive Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway announced.

Talib will be introduced at a press conference at team headquarters on Wednesday afternoon (specific time TBD).

The seventh-year player has appeared in 77 regular-season games (63 starts) with Tampa Bay (2008-12) and New England (2012-13), totaling 272 tackles (237 solo), 23 interceptions (348 yds.), 73 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also owns 15 tackles (12 solo) and one pass defensed in four career postseason starts.

He earned his first career Pro Bowl selection with the Patriots in 2013 after recording 44 tackles (35 solo), four interceptions (12 yds.), 13 passes defensed and one forced fumble. Acquired by New England in a Trade with Tampa Bay midway through the 2012 season, Talib ranks seventh in the NFL with 19 interceptions and is tied for fourth in the league with four interceptions returned for touchdowns since 2009.

Talib was selected by the Buccaneers in the first round (20th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft from the University of Kansas, where he started 32-of-34 games and recorded 162 tackles, 13 interceptions, 43 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

He finished his collegiate career with unanimous first-team All-Big 12 Conference accolades in 2007, the same year Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year for the Jayhawks as a true freshman.

Talib attended Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas, and was born on Feb. 13, 1986, in Cleveland.
